Configuring internet in ubuntu, which is installed on Windows Vmware workstation

Hello friends,

The solution for configuring Internet in Ubuntu( or any linux dist.), which is actually installed on Windows Vmware and also where the Internet needs to be connected through proxy ip address.

  • In Vmware workstation, right click on your particular virutal machine os(in my case ubuntu 10.10) and choose settings..
  • Then go to hardware tab and select network adapter, there you choose NAT(sharing of ip with host) and click ok.
  • Now after logging in to your os, Auto etho will be detected. This will be detected only if you choose Automatic(DHCP) in network settings in wired interface.
  • Thats it, now open your favorite browser and configure your browser with the proxy ip address.
